2007 My Series Awards Race
We wrapped up the first year for My Series at Buddy Houser's Slot Car Speedway & Hobbies in Jacksonville, Florida with the Awards Race and banquet. Congratulations
to Buddy for having 129 Travel Entries and earning the right to host the Awards Race.
Everyone in attendance had a
great time racing and eating and enjoyed an excellent lunch at Bono's Barbecue. Obviously, we need to work on the timing for
the event as only Bill Stuyvenberg from Holly Hill made the trip to race with the local Jacksonville racers.
We raced
GTP's following My Series rules with two-man
teams. We ran 7.5 minutes on and 2.0 minutes off and ran each lane twice for a toal of 16 heats. Here are the results ....

Race Notes
JT
and Eddie ran one motor the entire race and other than a gear change and a tire change avoided any trouble. Great race by
two of the better local racers.
Johnny and Buddy were in striking distance until late in the race and one bad heat
put them out of contention for the win
Rick's arm is probably about ready to fall off. He ran the first eight heats
as Josh was late arriving. Rick did get a little help from Tom Marlowe once Tom and Rollin decided they'd spent enough money
for one day.
Bill's arm is probably in a sling!! Greg wasn't able to get to the track until just a couple heats to
go, so Bill turned it into a 16 heat practice session. He avoided most of the gremlins and shaved over .6 off of his lap times
from the first heat to the last heat.
Cap and Stuart labeled themselves "Little Dog Racing" and represented themselves
well. They got behind with a motor change (to a brand new motor that still needed a pinion) but ran a pretty clean race all
day. Both have just been racing slots since early 2007 and Cap is planning to run the series in 2008.
Pinkie and Bill
had more than their fair share of headaches and finished with a body that was starting to resemble an open-wheel modified.
But the Goody's Headache Award definitely goes to Tom and Rollin. Tom had a four lap lead six minutes into the first
heat when the motor through a wind. The next motor had a spring collapse after about a heat of running. Followed by problems
with the next motor and the next. So ... at the halfway mark of the race they decided to stop throwing money at the car and
Tom gave Rick a little relief since his son had not arrived yet and Rollin played race director.
Big "Thank You" to
Mike R for jumping to help turn marshall a number of heats until some of the late-arriving team members could get to the track
Hope to see y'all next year.
