Series Guidelines - 2009

Race Format and Home Raceway

A racer’s Home Raceway is the one that the racer lists at the first race they attend.  In the event that raceway closes, the racer will be allowed to select a new raceway at their first race after the closing. Raceways that are both sold and move to a new location will be considered a new raceway for future schedules.

All racers will be divided into two classes: Amateur and Experienced.

The track owners will determine each racer’s classification for the year. Their decision is final and will base their decision on their knowledge of the racer and/or the following:

An Experienced racers is anyone who has:  (1) Finished in the Top 3 in class (or in another series) in the past 3 years, (2) Won a monthly race during the previous season, (3) Won a State or National Championship in any class, (4) Is a Track Owner, Manufacturer, Distributor, or otherwise involved in the slot car business, (5) Receives any merchandise or discount from a Track Owner, Manufacturer or Distributor, or (6) is designated as an Experienced/Expert racer by their track owner.

Amateur racers may also race in 4” Open NASCAR or Box 12/15 without hurting their Amateur standing.

All decisions and rulings of the tech director will be final.

All classes will be randomly sorted into qualifying races. If there are 15 or fewer racers, a sit out format will be used. If there are 16 or more racers, qualifying races will be used. There will never be more than 12 racers in any qualifying race.

Example:

20 entries would have 2 qualifying races of 10 racers each w/ 2 sit-outs.

           25 entries would have 3 qualifying races (2 w/ 8 racers, 1 w/ 9 racers)

If you win your qualifying race, you move to the main regardless of your lap total.  The Main is then filled by the remaining racers based upon their laps in the qualifiers.

Race format will be 2 minutes on, 2 minutes off for qualifiers and mains.

Race Day

The host raceway will open by 8am with practice for the first class of the day only.  Each subsequent class will receive 30 minutes of practice prior to their race.

Entry Fees & Payout

The entry fee for each race is $15.  The entry fee is split as follows:  $6 goes to the host raceway, $6 goes toward the prize payout for that class, and $3 goes to My Series to cover administrative costs, plaques, web site, etc..

Each Class (and Division within a Class) will receive a payout in the form of Track Bucks for the Top 5 positions in the Main based upon the total number of entries in that Class or Division.  First Place receives 40%, Second Place receives 30%, Third Place receives 15%, Fourth Place receives 9%, and Fifth Place receives 6%.

The total of all races will be tallied at the end of the racing season.  A racer may drop two races, but may not drop both races from a particular track unless they attended all eight races. A disqualification (DQ) receives zero points.

If there is a tie, the following will determine the winner.

       1)  Most races attended

       2)  Most 1st Place finishes.

       3)  Most top 3 finishes.

4)     Finish in the final race.
